For years, the elite world of yachting has revolved around a familiar trio of options: the billionaire’s private superyacht, the chartered vessel for a few weeks of indulgence, or the emerging trend of residential ships offering a permanent home on the waves.

Now, the Maybach Ocean Club is charting a bold new course. This 508-foot floating palace is neither a private yacht nor a traditional charter—it’s a members-only club at sea. Designed for a select group of international co-owners, the vessel offers a revolutionary way to experience luxury yachting: shared ownership, flexible access, and a vibrant community, all managed by a reputed yacht management firm.

From Idle Assets to Shared Luxury

Michael Hehn, co-founder of the Maybach Ocean Club, saw an opportunity in an industry inefficiency. “Most yachts sit idle for the majority of the year,” he explains. “Owners might use them for about five weeks annually, and while some charter them out, it’s not the most effective use.” The solution? A luxury yacht shared among like-minded individuals who value both exclusivity and flexibility. “The best approach was to create a private members’ club at sea,” Hehn says. “When you share something this extraordinary, you want to know exactly who you’re sharing it with.”

Exclusivity Meets Flexibility

Unlike residential superyachts, where owners purchase private apartments for long-term stays, the Maybach Ocean Club is designed for a different kind of lifestyle—one that complements, rather than replaces, life on land. “Our members are dynamic, accomplished individuals—entrepreneurs, artists, leaders—who may already own homes or even yachts, but don’t have the time to live aboard for months,” Hehn notes. “They want the freedom to come and go, to enjoy the yacht for a few weeks each year, and to be part of a community that shares their passions.”

In one of the world’s most demanding culinary cities, excellence is earned through consistency, sacrifice, and respect for tradition.

A Yacht Like No Other

The vessel strikes a delicate balance between the intimacy of a private yacht and the grandeur of a five-star resort. With just 30 suites—each spanning approximately 800 square feet—and six additional guest suites, the Maybach Ocean Club accommodates a maximum of 72 guests at a time. This ensures both privacy and world-class amenities, including two restaurants (one casual, one fine dining), a beach club, lounges, a spa, and a gym. A 230-foot support vessel carries tenders, water toys, and even a helicopter, ensuring every adventure is within reach.

Mercedes-Maybach Design and Community at the Core

The yacht’s design is a collaboration with Mercedes-Maybach, whose legendary attention to detail and quality is evident throughout. “Maybach’s design philosophy is at the heart of this project,” Hehn says. “Their commitment to excellence aligns perfectly with our vision.”

The Maybach Ocean Club follows the rhythm of the global yachting season. Summers are spent cruising the Mediterranean’s most coveted destinations—from the French Riviera to Sardinia and the Italian coast— while winters shift to the sun-drenched Caribbean. Members typically join for week-long stays, with itineraries remaining flexible. “If the weather is better elsewhere, or there’s a must-see event, the captain can adjust the route—just like a private yacht,” Hehn explains.

Membership is by referral, attracting “interesting people who are interested,” as Hehn puts it. “These are individuals who have achieved remarkable things but remain curious about the world and the people in it.” The club’s structure is built around shared ownership, offering members four weeks aboard each year, with annual fees covering operating costs. The Maybach Ocean Club was officially unveiled in late 2025, with its first voyages expected by the end of 2029. In the meantime, the club is already fostering connections through exclusive events, bringing future members together. Because for the Maybach Ocean Club, the yacht is just the beginning—the real magic lies in the community that forms around it.
