Esther Duflo won the Nobel Prize in 2019 for her pioneering work fighting global poverty. She’s out front because her work is about using actual field experiments to see what will work when you’re trying to make better lives for impoverished people. When she’s not in the field, she’s still active with projects like founding the MIT Poverty Action Lab and additional research to improve education, health, and agriculture for the entire planet.
