Robert Gaudette is Senior Vice President of NRG Business Solutions, where he oversees NRG’s broad portfolio of energy products and services for the commercial and industrial customers. In this role, Gaudette and his team orchestrate product development, origination, structuring, negotiation, construction and implementation of energy solutions that can be tailored to meet the growing needs of regional and national accounts. His team of energy experts provides market expertise and helps customers manage their energy strategy, all with highest level of customer satisfaction.

Gaudette and Business Solutions build on NRG’s strength as the nation’s largest and most diverse competitive power provider to pioneer the development of cleaner, smarter energy choices. Working as a trusted partner, Gaudette and his team increase efficiencies, reduce costs, and manage risks; creating a more sustainable, resilient, affordable and empowering energy ecosystem for NRG customers.

The large suite of business-to-business products and services under Gaudette’s management gives customers a variety of innovative, configurable solutions that fall into four categories: renewables, thermal, distributed, and services. Within these groups, NRG offers everything from solar and wind; district energy and thermal systems; demand response, advisory services and distributed generation; commodity and wholesale origination; and energy trading and energy management services.

Prior to joining NRG, Gaudette served as Chief Commercial Officer at GenOn Energy. Previous to GenOn, he was Vice President of Mirant’s Mid-Atlantic business unit in Washington, D.C. During his career at Mirant, Gaudette worked in various other capacities including Director of West Power, Director of NYMEX Trading, Assistant to the Chief Operating Officer and NYMEX natural gas trader. He began his career at Mirant in 2001 as a Trading Desk Analyst on the Mid-Atlantic power desk and as an Analyst on the fuels desk.

Earlier, Gaudette served four years as an army combat engineer officer in the Cavalry, including a one-year deployment to Bosnia. Before leaving military service for business school in 1999, he served as the executive officer of a combat engineer company in the Second Armored Cavalry Regiment.

Gaudette earned a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from The College of William and Mary and a Master’s of Business Administration from Rice University.

Supporting the local community is important to Gaudette. He is a board member on the Kelsey Research Foundation and serves on the Advancement Committee of the Duchesne Academy; the Regional Economic Development Committee of the Greater Houston Partnership; and the Energy Technology Screening Committee at the Houston Technology Center.
