Francesca Rossi is a research scientist at the IBM T.J. Watson Research Centre, and an professor of computer science at theย University of Padova, Italy, currently on leave. Last year she was on sabbatical at Harvard with aย Radcliffeย fellowship. She has been president of the international association for constraint programming (ACP) and ofย IJCAI, as well asย program chair ofย CP 2003ย and ofย IJCAI 2013. She is an executive councillor of AAAI and a co-chair of the AAAI committee on AI and ethics. She is in the editorial board ofย Constraints,ย Artificial Intelligence,ย AMAI, andย KAIS. She is Associate Editor in Chief ofย JAIRย since January 2015. She is a member of the scientific advisory board of the Future of Life Institute.
Her research interests focus on artificial intelligence, specifically they includeย constraint reasoning, preferences,ย multi-agent systems, and computational social choice.ย In the recent years she has expanded her interest to include ethical issues in the development and behaviorย of AI systems, in particular for decision support systems for group decision making.ย She has published over 170 articles in international journals and proceedings of international conferences or workshops, and as book chapters.ย She has co-authored a book. She has edited 16 volumes, between conference proceedings, collections of contributions, special issues of international journals, as well as theย Handbook of Constraint Programming. ย She has more than 100 co-authors.
