Xuedong (X.D.) Huang, Chief Technology Officer at Zoom, is a renowned technology leader who has been instrumental in bringing speech recognition and AI to the mass market. He has led groundbreaking milestones in speech recognition, machine translation, natural language understanding, and computer vision.
Huang is an inventor with over 170 US patents, and has authored over 100 papers and two books. He is also an elected member of the National Academy of Engineering and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and received the IEEE Bose Industrial Leader Award in 2023.
Huang earned his Ph.D. from the University of Edinburgh, his MS from Tsinghua University, and his BS from Hunan University. Following his postdoctoral work at Carnegie Mellon University, he joined the faculty of the School of Computer Sciences at Carnegie Mellon University. He then moved to Microsoft where he held key positions including Technical Fellow and Azure AI Chief Technology Officer.
