William Doffermyre serves as Senior Director in Energy Transfer’s Alternative Energy Group, leading project development for Energy Transfer’s carbon capture, sequestration and utilization opportunities. Mr. Doffermyre also leads the company’s development of wind, solar and other innovative energy opportunities on reclaimed mine lands owned by Energy Transfer across Appalachia, and serves on Energy Transfer’s Climate Disclosure Committee. 

Prior to joining Energy Transfer, Mr. Doffermyre served as Vice President and General Counsel of the Overseas Private Investment Corporation, the predecessor to what is now the United States Development Finance Corporation. As Vice President and General Counsel, Mr. Doffermyre led the agency’s legal affairs department, served on the agency’s investment committee, and advised the agency with respect to administrative and regulatory matters.

Before joining OPIC, Mr. Doffermyre was a partner at Williams & Connolly, LLP in Washington D.C., where he practiced high-stakes civil and criminal litigation, focusing in particular on litigation involving the energy sector.

Mr. Doffermyre earned a B.A. in Economics, with distinction, from the University of Virginia and received his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law, where he served on the editorial board of the Virginia Law Review. After graduating from law school, Mr. Doffermyre clerked for The Honorable D. Brock Hornby of the United States District Court for the District of Maine.
