Mr. Cooke started his VA career as an Engineering Intern in 1990, is the son of a U.S. Army World War II Veteran. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, is also a graduate of multiple executive leadership development programs including VA Senior Executive Core Training, VA Senior Executive Strategic Leadership Course, Facility Management and Planning courses at Harvard Universityโ€™s School of Design.

Mr. Cooke is a resident-level VHA certified mentor (VHA-CM) and is currently a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives. His awards and honors include the Federal Executive Board Rookie of the Year (1990). Leaders of tomorrow Mentor Program Awards (2001-2002), Department of Energy, Energy Star Award (2003, 2008), Joint Commission Top Performers on Key Quality Measures (2013) and the Military Order of the Purple Heart, WV, Distinguished Service Award (2009, 2010, 2014). Mr. Cooke has the unique honor of being a member of the National Veteran Golden Age Games.

Timothy J. Cooke was appointed as the Medical Center Director/CEO of the Orlando VA Healthcare System (OVAHCS), in Orlando, Florida on January 19, 2020.

The Orlando VA Medical Center at Lake Nona provides outpatient, inpatient and emergency services. Orlando’s 65-acre medical campus encompasses 134 acute inpatient beds, providing complex Medical/Surgical/Mental Health, specialty care, advanced diagnostic services, and a large multispecialty outpatient clinic.

The Orlando VA Healthcare System (OVAHCS) serves more than 142,000 Veterans in Central Florida and surrounding areas. There is a Healthcare Center in Viera, Florida, a Medical Center in Orlando (Lake Baldwin Campus), and a Multispecialty Community Based Outpatient Clinic in Daytona Beach. The facilities also include a 120-bed Community Living Center, two Mental Health Residential Rehabilitation Treatment facilities, one 60 bed domiciliary located at the Lake Nona Campus and one with 58 beds at the Lake Baldwin Campus.

There are also five Community-Based Outpatient Clinics located in Clermont, Kissimmee, Deltona, Tavares, and Palm Bay, Florida.
