Shawn Douglas

Shawn Douglas earned a B.S. in Computer Science at Yale in 2003, and a Ph.D. in Biophysics at Harvard in 2009, co-advised by William Shih and George Church. He continued working with Dr. Church at Harvard as a Technology Development Fellow at the Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering, developing a prototype DNA nanodevice that may one day lead to therapies that can deliver targeted signals to cancer cells while sparing healthy cells. Dr. Douglas recently started his own laboratory as an Assistant Professor at Department of Cellular & Molecular Pharmacology at the University of California, San Francisco. He was named as one of Popular Science magazine’s “Brilliant 10” in 2012 and has received awards and/or funding from the Burroughs Wellcome Fund, Del E Webb Foundation, Pew Charitable Trusts, and Army Research Laboratory, and National Science Foundation.
