Robert Boorstin

Bob Boorstin is a Senior Vice President at ASG, helping clients facing challenges in the information technology sector and operating as a member of the firm’s team focused on Europe. He also works with clients on communications and corporate social responsibility strategies.

Mr. Boorstin brings to ASG more than 25 years of experience in the private, government, and non-profit sectors. Most recently, he spent more than seven years as a Director of Public Policy for Google, Inc., where he helped establish the company’s presence in Washington, D.C., and drove its global efforts to promote free expression online.

During the Clinton Administration, Mr. Boorstin served in the government for more than seven years. He worked at the National Security Council as the President’s chief speechwriter, advised Secretary of the Treasury Robert Rubin on foreign policy and communications, and counseled Secretary of State Warren Christopher on developing world issues.

Following his time in government, Mr. Boorstin established and ran the national security programs at the Center for American Progress, a leading Washington think tank, served as a consultant to Fortune 500 companies and major foundations, and advised more than a dozen political campaigns in the U.S. and abroad.

Mr. Boorstin began his professional life as a reporter for The New York Times and other publications. He has been a frequent commentator for newspapers, radio, and television outlets in the U.S., Britain, and Western Europe.

He earned his M.Phil. in International Relations at King’s College, Cambridge, and his B.A. in History from Harvard College.

Since his diagnosis with manic depression in 1987, Mr. Boorstin has been a leading public advocate for those with serious mental illness and their families. He has lectured on mental health in the U.S., Europe, and Africa.
