Melissa Long Dolson

Melissa Long Dolson is the Vice President of Automation Platform Sales for IBM Industry Technology Sales, including Application Delivery and Integration, IT Automation and Observability, IT Financial Management and Finops, Asset Management, Sustainability, Identity and Access Management and DevOps businesses including our newly acquired webMethods portfolio and Hashicorp portfolios, and is the Senior State Executive for the State of Missouri.

IBM’s Automation clients range from the largest of the Fortune 500, to many world-wide government agencies, state and local entities and universities along with small and mid-sized companies all of which have a desire to leverage Automation and AI to improve their application delivery, business outcomes, deliver innovations more efficiently to their user and customer communities and to deliver superior application performance. Melissa has been working in IT Automation and Operations for more than twenty years and enthusiastically works with many of our clients directly to help shape IBM’s product decisions.

Additionally, in her free time, Melissa enjoys mentoring both technical and non-technical IBMers and college students to drive career opportunities for them and help them create long-term career vision. Melissa previously worked within the Worldwide Sales organization and Federal and Public Market at IBM, managing both the Red Hat synergies and the Automation business. Melissa holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management with an emphasis in Economics along with various professional business and IT certifications. Melissa has enjoyed being a guest lecturer on a number of topics including Strategic Planning, AI, automation to improve business performance and agility and STEM career development at a number of universities. As part of Melissa’s responsibilities as the Senior State Executive for the State of Missouri, she has had the opportunity to speak on behalf of topics with the state legislature ranging from workforce development, skills building and how to safely and effectively leverage AI in business and education.

On the personal front, Melissa has been married 25 years and has 3 children and 3 dogs.
