Marcy Darnovsky, Ph.D., is Executive Director at theย Center for Genetics and Society, a Berkeley, California-based public affairs organization that for 15 yearsย has led the way in public interest efforts to reclaim human biotechnologies for the common good. CGS brings a social justice, human rights, and public interest perspective to our work on human genetic and assisted reproductive technologies and practices, supporting those that are beneficial and opposing those that threaten to exacerbate inequality, discrimination, and conflict. Darnovskyย speaks and writes widely on human biotechnologies, with articles appearing inย The New York Times, Nature, New Scientist, Los Angeles Times, Wall Street Journal,ย andย The Guardian,ย and many other publications. She has been interviewed for and cited by hundreds of television, radio, and other news outlets. She is co-editor (with Osagie K. Obasogie) ofย Beyond Bioethics: Toward a New Biopolitics,ย an anthology forthcoming from the University of California Press.
