Kim Wilson is the Director of Sustainability at McLaren Racing, a role she has held since January 2022. With over 25 years of experience in sustainability, she has been instrumental in embedding environmental responsibility into the core of business operations. At McLaren, Kim has developed a comprehensive sustainability strategy centered on planet, people and performance. Under her leadership, the team has set new standards for sustainability in motorsport, including becoming the first F1 team to have validated targets by the SBTi. She has delivered emissions reductions through biofuel switching, pioneered a SAF programme, and created the Climate Contribution Programme that applies F1 know-how to help accelerate the scaling of climate solutions. Kim’s career began as a chartered accountant at KPMG, after which she held sustainability leadership roles at ERM and EDF UK, where she was notably involved in the “Helping Britain Achieve Net Zero” campaign. Beyond McLaren, she has played a pivotal role in industry-wide sustainability efforts. She sponsored the F1 Constructors’ Circularity Handbook, developed in collaboration with Deloitte, aiming to improve circular practices in Formula 1. Kim’s approach combines data-driven strategies with a collaborative ethos, reflecting her belief that the best sustainability outcomes result from partnerships across diverse sectors.
