Kelly Liang is SVP of business development at SmartThings, leading a new team at the company focused on partnerships surrounding its open platform for the smart home and consumer Internet of Things. Kelly is a business development executive who has worked in consumer technology since 2000 at prominent Silicon Valley companies including Yahoo, Visa, YouTube, and Google. She was also a former investment banker with DLJ Securities in New York and Hong Kong. Kelly is credited with being the early visionary for YouTube’s mobile and platform distribution efforts, which advanced YouTube to be universally accessible via all connected screens and devices. Most recently, Kelly led global business development for Glass, one of the products to come out of Google X, Google’s innovation lab that has launched other notable initiatives like the self-driving car and Project Loon. Her role at Glass spanned across software and hardware partnerships–including executing strategic deals with software/app developers, leading eyewear manufacturers, technology suppliers, and retailers. Kelly holds an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and an honors degree in political science from the University of Michigan.
