Gwyneth Borden, is Chair of the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA), a role she assumed in May 2020. Gwyneth, a long-time regular transit rider, was appointed to the SFMTA Board in 2014, after serving six years as a Planning Commissioner for San Francisco. Ms. Borden has a history of transportation advocacy, having served on Mayor Ed Lee’s 2030 Transportation Task Force, and in 2003, she was appointed by the Board of Supervisors to be Vice-Chair of the Expenditure Plan Advisory Committee that authored the half-cent sales tax for transportation which today funds the city’s transportation projects. Ms. Borden is a seasoned public policy professional, having worked in the public, private and nonprofit sectors. Gwyneth is also the Head of Public Policy for Diamond Foundry, a carbon-neutral certified manufacturer of lab-grown diamonds for jewelry and semiconductors.
