Giovanni M. Colella, M.D. co-founded Castlight Health, Inc. in 2008 along with Todd Park, former U.S. chief technology officer and co-founder of athenahealth, and Bryan Roberts, Ph.D., partner at Venrock. Gio currently serves as Castlight’s chief executive officer. Gio brings more than 25 years of experience as a health technology entrepreneur, business executive, and physician. Before co-founding Castlight, Gio was founder, president, and CEO of RelayHealth (acquired by McKesson in 2006), a pioneering healthcare company that provides secure digital communications to connect doctors with their patients. Gio has also served in senior roles at Sapient and SAI, and was a consultant at the Boston Consulting Group. Before beginning his business career, Gio practiced medicine in Manhattan and directed the Transitional Day Treatment Program at Roosevelt Hospital. Gio graduated with an M.D. from the University Degli Studi di Milano in Italy. He did his fellowship in public health at Columbia University, and earned his M.B.A from Columbia Business School.
