Chuck Prophet

Chuck Prophet

Musician, Producer and Independent Artist

Since emerging onto the music scene at age 18 as a member of the seminal rock band Green on Red, Prophet has collaborated with everyone from Warren Zevon and Kelly Willis to Jim Dickinson and Lucinda Williams among many others. In recent years, Prophet’s music has been featured in several hit television series including HBO’s “True Blood,” Showtime’s “Californication,” and FX’s “Sons of Anarchy.” He also co-wrote all the songs on Alejandro Escovedo’s 2008 critically acclaimed album Real Animal. His 13th studio album, “Night Surfer”, is out now on Yep Roc Records.

About the tech economy, Chuck says, “San Francisco is once again under siege by predatory tech nerds and drones, plutocrats and wiz kids. With no real culture. Whatever you’ve been told. Technology does not equal culture. People have reacted in different ways to this onslaught. The Occupy Movement for one. And you may have heard of people laying down in front of google buses in protest. etc. But there’s also the path of art.”

Prophet’s widely praised 2012 release, “Temple Beautiful”, is an homage to the city and era of San Francisco that helped forge his career. One man’s alternative history of three decades of West Coast culture and politics. He will be performing a few songs from that album at TE15.
