Chris Genteel

Head of Diversity Markets, Google, Inc.

Chris leads Google’s efforts to make its products useful and accessible to diverse businesses and their communities. His team works to support businesses and organizations who are underrepresented on the web through Accelerate with Google. Before that he was Online Sales Manager for Google AdWords where he was named Americas Impact Award for helping mid-sized to Fortune 500 B2B customers grow online. Chris received the President’s Award from the Michigan Minority Supplier Development Council for his dedication to advancing minority business development and was named one of 30-in-their-30s by DBusiness Magazine.

Chris holds an MBA from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan where he was a Fellow of the Consortium for Graduate Studies in Management, and received the MBA Innovation Award and the Cause-Based Entrepreneurial Leadership Award for founding Arts Enterprise. His early career was in nonprofit management. At EmcArts Consulting he managed strategic planning projects for arts and education organizations and major arts foundations, bringing web-based tools for knowledge-sharing to his clients and the industry. He received his BA in Humanities from Yale University, where he managed and toured the globe with the Yale Whiffenpoofs singing ensemble. Chris lives in Michigan with his wife Dara and daughter Chiara, and flexes his right-brain by writing, recording and performing music in Ann Arbor and in his hometown of New York City.
