After a decade-long career working in entertainment media in New York City, Catherine Kelly returned home to become publisher of the Michigan Citizen newspaper, which served the city’s African-American community.
She is passionate about supporting the city’s existing and emerging entrepreneurs. She is currently building a global/local brand, Our/Detroit, and sits on the board of Ponyride, an incubator for creative and social entrepreneurs.
Michigan's leaders want it to become a tech hub. But low-wage work is increasingly the norm, and Detroit still has very far to go. Policymakers aim to leverage the considerable tech resources of existing industries, and plan to use the Internet of Things as another key element for a leap forward.
