Bethany Ladd is an accomplished researcher, entrepreneur, and co-founder of Arca Climate Technologies (formerly Carbin Minerals). Arca is a leading carbon dioxide removal company that develops innovative technology to turn CO2 into rock at scale. As Head of Operations at Arca, Bethany draws upon her scientific background and expertise in applied research management to guide the company to success. Prior to her current role, Bethany served as a Research Scientist at the University of British Columbia, where she focused on interdisciplinary research projects related to energy, groundwater quality, sustainability, and climate change. She holds a Bachelor of Science from Brown University and a Master of Science from the University of Calgary, where she developed a background in hydrogeology and aqueous geochemistry that has given her a deep understanding of the interplay between water, minerals, and gases in natural systems. Following her degree, Bethany worked for the U.S. Forest Service and then returned to academia to build a career running applied research projects that tackled complex environmental problems. Her passion for making a difference in the world led her to co-found Arca, a University of British Columbia spinout and XPRIZE award-winning carbon dioxide removal company.
