As CTO at Symantec, Amit Mital is responsible for driving the technology strategy for the company. His organization includes Symantec Research Labs and strategic technology assets that drive the future innovation and transformation roadmap for the company.
Previously, as corporate vice president for the Startup Business Group (SBG) at Microsoft, Mital led a strategic innovation and incubation organization that drove new business value for Microsoft by identifying new business and technology opportunities, building new products, and taking them to market. Mital spent 20 years at Microsoft building products from the ground up, shipping 13 products in a leadership role, including Live Mesh, LiveMeeting, and Biztalk Server.
Mital holds 41 U.S. and international patents, as well as a master’s degree in engineering from Dartmouth College. He is an avid telemark and alpine skier and enjoys travel, kayaking, and photography. Mital also serves on the board of trustees for the Seattle Opera.
