Megan Carroll

Political Affairs Officer, United Nations

Megan Carroll is from San Diego, CA. She works in the United Nations Department of Political and Peace-building Affairs’ Guidance and Learning Unit. Previously, she was appointed by President Obama to serve as a White House Fellow. Prior to this, she led UNDPโ€™s Democracy and Participation portfolio in South Sudan. She has also served as Acting Director of The Carter Centerโ€™s Democracy and Conflict Resolution Programs in South Sudan and Sudan; Democracy and Governance Advisor to USAID; and an international observer for South Sudanโ€™s referendum on independence. She has work experience on five continents, including managing Harvard Universityโ€™s Scholars at Risk Program and teaching in Japan through the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Program. She holds an M.P.P. from the Harvard Kennedy School and a B.A. in Political Science from Amherst College. She is a Council on Foreign Relations Term Member, Humanity in Action Senior Fellow, and Truman National Security Fellow.
