Dr. Dale Atkins is a licensed psychologist, educator, storyteller, and nature enthusiast with more than forty years of experience helping individuals and families navigate life with resilience, balance, and meaning. Her work focuses on emotional wellness, stress management, and the power of connection across generations.
An accomplished author of nine books, along with numerous chapters, articles, and journal contributions for both popular and professional audiences, Dr. Atkins is also a sought-after speaker who lectures and leads seminars worldwide. She has appeared regularly on NBC’s TODAY and CNN, bringing warmth, clarity, and practical insight to a broad audience. In addition to her media work, she maintains a private psychology practice in New York City and has served as a member of and advisor to several nonprofit boards, including Jumpstart for Young Children. She is also a founding member of WHAM (Women’s Health Access Matters).
Dr. Atkins holds a B.S. from NYU, an M.A. Columbia University’s Teachers College, and a Ph.D. from UCLA. She lives in Connecticut with her husband, is the proud mother of two children and grandmother of six, and is an active volunteer in her community as well as an avid hiker and traveler.
In January, 2026, Dr. Atkins published her debut children’s book, The Turquoise Butterfly—a tender, award-winning story that honors the deep bond between a grandmother and granddaughter. This book helps families navigate anxiety, grief, and change with comfort and hope. In June 2026, she released her second children’s book –Dear Deer, a gentle story of two friends discovering nature through their senses. It encourages families to step away from screens and reconnect with the natural world.
